Careers are never straight-forward. You studied one thing and you think it will take you down one path and then suddenly a twist comes along, for the better, and you are on a completely different track.

The moral of this story? There is no one way to do things. You can try many things until you find something you love and are passionate about. It may not be what you wanted to do when you grew up (I wanted to be an optician!) but life takes you a journey for a reason – so be brave and roll with the twists and turns.
